DanTheMan 2 A rousing and energetic adaptation of the Broadway musical, Chicago succeeds on the level of pure spectacle weaving its deliriously dark tale with enough cyanide-laced cynicism to win over folks who wouldn't know Oklahoma! from Oh! Calcutta! Filled with enough razzamatazz, razzle-dazzle, all that jazz and then some to win over even the most apprehensive about musicals. The Chicago 2002 movie still brings fond memories due to the acting, singing, dancing, story told, costumes, makeup, hair, lights, and sound!When a story that is well known from the stage in prior movies delivers like this movie did, then we have a pot of gold! When the story shows us society and hard truths, we learn something!As a movie lover, I am appreciative that I saw this on the big screen!The QueenLatifah part, in particular, was one I enjoyed! There are some really eye-catching visuals in here ("We Both Reached For The Gun" and "Roxie" have my personal favorites), so all-in-all, it's a very enjoyable evening for anyone not opposed to some salacious razzle-dazzle. That said, it's not particularly deep or impactful persay, so I'd recommend it mostly for people in want of the spectacle.
